Theodore Bikel (1924–2015) was a highly versatile Austrian-American actor, folk singer, and political activist. Celebrated for his rich baritone voice and linguistic mastery, he originated the role of Captain von Trapp in Broadway’s The Sound of Music and played Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof over 2,000 times.
